When you soft wash daily, one of your most important tools is a Ball Valve. Here is a summary for those unfamiliar with what this tool is and what it is used for. A Ball Valve is an on/off mechanism that is used at the end of your pressure washer line. It has a 5/8 female connector on one end and a 3/8 male connector on the other. It allows you to turn off the flow of water by turning the valve in the middle of these connectors.
MODIFYING YOUR BALL VALVE
Ball valves work amazingly well for soft washing. They allow you to control your PSI and GPM. This gives you the ability to go from a gentle rinse to blasting away stubborn stains and particulates with the twist of the wrist. But can you get more out of this tool? By building an adapter that allows you to use various tips on your Valve. By doing this simple mod you can unlock your Valves’ full potential.
WHAT YOU NEED
Here are the parts you will need to make your tip adapter:
You can build this Ball Valve adapter for under $40.
ASSEMBLY
The assembly of your new adapter is straightforward.
First, wrap the 3/8 end of your adaptor with Teflon tape. Then screw the 3/8 fitting on. Repeat this for the 5/8 fitting.
Make sure you have tightened the fitting on well. If you do not tighten them enough they will leak. A leaky Valve is no fun.
WHAT THE BALL VALVE ADAPTOR FOR
Now to the good part. Once you have completed your adaptor, you can try it out. Your new adaptor allows you to use soft wash and pressure washing tips. This greatly increases your ability to rinse and pressure wash with your Ball Valve.
